King of space-themed rock ‘n’ roll David Bowie will release a new album in January entitled “Blackstar,” according to reports.
Bowie crafted the seven-song collection at New York’s Magic Shop studio with the assistance of local jazz musicians, according to the Times. The lead single, also called “Blackstar,” will drop on Nov. 19. It will also be featured in “Lazarus,” the musical Bowie is co-writing with Enda Walsh. The track is also used as the theme for UK crime series “The Last Panthers.”
“King of space-themed rock ‘n’ roll”
That might just be the worst Bowie description I’ve heard. Really stoked for this thing though. A new Bowie album is always something to look forward to, but the long jazz jams sound promising.
…Let’s take a look back really quick and thing about just how many songs and albums he made that were space themed. Sounds pretty accurate to me.
hey T, ya lets rack up the beautiful music of Bowie to a sentence that a third grader could have wrote, ya that’s how we should appreciate music.
Legend!
New single Lazarus came out right now on youtube
I am super excited for this album to come out! I already got Blackstar and Lazarus from iTunes, and they’re both fantastic tracks! It’s going to be another great album from Bowie. Even if/when it leaks, I’ll listen but I can’t wait to get the CD in my hands for my collection!
Saw this on Reddit, looks like the album is already being sold in some stores: http://imgur.com/a/i3XGA
A vinyl rip was just posted right now on 4chan’s /mu/ board.
it’s out… and it’s awesome!
Yes it’s out… but in mono sound. Not stereo. Waiting to arrive my vinyl…
Are there any other leaks available anywhere other than MEGAsync or SoulSeek? I’m not downloading a completely separate program just to download an album I’m only gonna listen to maybe once for my blog. Please, I need a copy of this album before Friday or I have to postpone my review until later!
RIP Legend.
Rest In Peace, Bowie.
RIP Mr Bowie
David Bowie, one of the best to ever do it. May he rest in peace
This was as sad as loosing Freddy Mercury and Michael Jackson. He appealed to SO many people from all walks of life.
A true pioneer in music has left this earth.
R.I.P. to an innovator of rock-as-art-theatre who entertained us, by providing a body of work that challenged listeners, experimented with song mechanics, and encouraged generations of audiophiles and modern artists; in the course, he became a headliner in the soundtracks of our lives. Thank you for leaving this final, brilliant album that befits a memorable talent of your caliber and stature.
Bowie, I never would’ve thought this would be the end. There was always a sense of timelessness and almost immortality when it came to Bowie. He did what he wanted to do, and he didn’t care what anybody else thought about it. He was and continues to be immortal in the lives of the fans who have appreciated him from the very beginning
