A Boy Named John is gearing up to release their debut album. So We Live | So We Die is an 11-track album that explores taking control, celebration, hearts burning on an empty flame, lust and more and is the follow-up to the alt rockers' 2014 EP, Or So It Seems.
"So We Live | So We Die is our first full-length album and our first real collaborative effort as musicians," the band says. "We wanted to expand our sound into a more theatrical direction, and with the addition of Paul [Singh] on keys and 3rd guitar, that has definitely evolved our sound in this album. We touch on a lot of different aspects of our lives and what's surrounding it.
"We wrote about the environment and people we surrounded ourselves with, the drive to be something more, heartbreak, mental illness, and rape culture. The most important thing we want people to do is to enjoy this; however, we also want everyone to think. If we can make someone, anyone relate and think about where they stand in life, I think we would be pretty happy.”
In addition to poignant songwriting, the record also features outstanding production by Kevin Kumetz (Seaway, With The Punches, and I Am the Avalanche) and Michael White (Whitney Houston, The Rolling Stones and 3 Doors Down). You'll have to wait until Friday (June 24) to pick up the album, but you can stream it in its entirety below!
