Desert rock icons Fu Manchu are returning with a new album in 2018! The new record will be titled 'Clone of the Universe' and will be out on the 9th of February. Looking at the tracklist, there is one particularly interesting detail: there is an 18 minute long track, titled 'Il Mostro Atomico'. The band has never released anything even close to this in length, so it's definitely an interesting step forward. Apparently, Rush's Alex Lifeson is playing on the song too. Frontman Scott Hill has said the following about the album:
“We are excited to get out and play this stuff, especially 'Il Mostro Atomico'. We think it’s some the strongest music we’ve ever done. We really love the overall sound of the album and having Alex (Lifeson, Rush) play on it is just incredible. It gives it that special validation for the idea that we had to try something like a side long song.”
The band is going on a European and US tour to support the album.
