I’ve taken the hundreds of nominations you added and boiled it down to 70 contender for Album of the Year 2016. You can vote for three of the albums below but you don’t necessarily have to use all of your votes. While I’ve tried to include as many of the nominees as possible, some albums had to be excluded most likely because there were few who nominated the release. There were two exceptions: Chance the Rapper’s album is technically a mixtape but I put it in the list because it had a significant buzz and impact on the hip hop scene. I also excluded Adrian Grande’s album, because it’s objectively a terrible album.
If I didn’t include a very obvious album, leave a note in the comments below. But please respect that all of your entries couldn’t fit.
Update: The poll has closed.
I love how it’s actually kinda exciting this year. Last year nobody were excited to see #1, OF COURSE it would be Kendrick
As @martinkreil says, the results aren’t that clear-cut as last year’s landslide win.
So I’ve hidden the ongoing results for now! Hype ;)
Meanwhile, let’s just hope Childish Gambino’s album is garbage and RTJ3 isn’t released before the end of the year.. I really don’t know how I would work around that ;-)
Will you open the voting again if they both release and they’re both amazing? Because I would gladly change my votes haha
The new Gambino is good to great aside of tracks 2 & 4 IMHO
I do have a bias though and have been waiting for this album for a long time.
So has a lot of people. But I’m also a big fan when an artistic drastically changes their sound and persona on every record and does it well. I’m looking forward to this.
looks like you’re gonna have to add Childish Gambino’s album to this list!!!
Funky soulful album that sounds like a Parliament/Funkadelic album from the 70’s! Could easily be one of the best of the year IMO!
Wildflower easily best album of the year!
Is time to bring rock back where it belongs
Disturbed, Immortalized album was released on August 21, 2015. Why is it even on this list?
Definitely feel that since the Disturbed album isn’t even from 2016 it should be replaced by one f the greatest albums of the year by a band who indefinitely deserves a spot on the list. Korn – The Serenity of Suffering. Just a thought… :)
@djdidas Fixed and replaced!
Awesome! Thanks Mojib =)
Should probably throw the new Every Time I Die and the new Santigold records up.
Where is Avantasia “Ghostlights” ??? the best 2016 album
Voted for Eldoradio! Great album!
Quite a disappointing list… but out of all this, Vektor, easily.
Blonde. Without a doubt.
I’m confused about the fact that M83’s “Junk” isn’t on the list. :(
I couldn’t believe it either…
I thought Roosevelt “Roosevelt”, The Naked & Famous “Simple Forms” & VAULTS “Caught In Still Life” were better than Shura & AURORA as far as electropop is concerned.
And where are Frank Ocean & The Weeknd?
I couldn’t agree more with you!
Jimmy Eat World should be on this list. Also, Sevendust’s Kill the Flaw came out last year.
Sevendust’s Kill the Flaw has been removed from the poll.
The sun’s tirade by Isaiah Rashad sould be on this list. IMO it’s the best hip hop album of 2016.
Sad to see Solange A Seat at the Table didn’t make the list… For me the greatest surprise of the year, definitely top 3.
Where is Architects- All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us x_x
dangerous woman is better than many of these (blink-182? korn? lol)
Wow I should have attempted to nominate some albums. No TDWP – Transit Blues, Architects – AOGHAU, Killswitch Engage – Incarnate? The lack of metal in here hurts.
Yeah, I thought metal was pretty well represented on here.
My top 10 would probably be something like: Fleshgod Apocalypse, Infant Annihilator, Vale Of Pnath, The Zenith Passage, Insomnium, After The Burial, Vektor, Obscura, Mare Cognitum and Wormed… with 1 out of 10 making it to this list xD
King Gizzard and The Lizzard Wizard – Nonagon Infinity
MUST ADD LAMBCHOP – FLOTUS……BAOTY
Pinegrove – Cardinal should absolutely be on this list. Amazing album
Whaaaa…?? What happened with the Devin Townsend Project with “Trascendence”????
