In just four short years, Orange County quintet NEO GEO has blasted onto the international stage with their unique and unpredictable brand of synth-laced rock.
With a quintessential pint-sized rock chick up front, the band has been described by Sugar Buzz Magazine: "like Paramore, may remind you of No Doubt, with a touch of Evanescence and lots of edge and drive."
The band's name is indicative of Rainy, Simon, Ryan, Jesse and Nick's attitude toward their sound.
"NEO GEO means 'new earth'," says lead vocalist Rainy Terrell.
"We wanted to create something new and special, something groundbreaking and different.
"All of us coming from different backgrounds, you can hear the influences in the music of the different genres we come from. We also wanted to incorporate an electronic vibe, so we thought NEO GEO was fitting in all aspects."
NEO GEO has been making waves since their 2009 Roland sponsorship signing and performance at Winter NAMM that same year, alongside Shiny Toy Guns.
In 2010, the band signed up with Hardline Entertainment, under the expert eye of Ken Seaton and Fletcher Dragge (Pennywise) and embarked on the first of two consecutive Vans Warped tours, also appearing on the 2010 and 2011 Vans Warped Tour compilation CDs.
NEO GEO worked tirelessly on their 2011 debut studio album with Grammy award-winning producer Cameron Webb (Kelly Clarkson, Motörhead, Pennywise, Weezer), who later said:
"What blows me away the most about NEO GEO is that this is their first album and their ability to write and perform such great songs. One listen to Rainy and you are blown away by her melodies and passion to sing from the heart."
Neo Geo’s debut music video “Can’t Catch Me” (directed and produced by Elliot Dillman & Rank and File Media - Pennywise, Strung Out, Zebrahead, Escape the Fate) spent six weeks on mtvu.com's Top 10 New Videos.
NEO GEO has since built relationships with Schecter Guitars and Mesa Boogie Amplifiers to its list of sponsors, featuring in product catalogues for both Roland Corporation and Schecter Guitars.
Ever the hometown heroes, NEO GEO have rocked the stages and headlined at some of LA's most infamous landmarks, including the Roxy, Keyclub, House of Blues, Troubadour and much much more.
Capitalizing on the international impact of social networking sites, and using cutting-edge technology for product promotion (eg, QR codes), NEO GEO has used the world wide web to put them on the world wide stage, with an ever-expanding global fan base as far-flung as Australia.
With a new single, exciting tour announcements and more surprises in store for 2012, it seems NEO GEO is taking the term 'Can't Catch Me' in its most literal sense.
