Maynard James Keenan and his Puscifer project have just announced that their second studio album, ‘Conditions of My Parole,’ has been remixed into an entirely new work entitled, ‘All Re-Mixed Up.’
‘Conditions of My Parole’ is Puscifer’s crowning achievement at this point in the collective’s career. Puscifer tend to be all over the place when it comes to creative direction, but ‘Conditions’ couldn’t be more focused. Puscifer’s magnum opus contains powerhouse rock pieces ‘Telling Ghosts’ and the album’s title track, along with purely beautiful electronically-fused crafts such as ‘Monsoons,’ ‘Tiny Monsters’ and ‘Oceans.’ ‘Conditions of My Parole’ also introduced fans to British vocalist Carina Round, who has helped shape Puscifer’s character in a tremendous way, especially while sharing singing duties with Keenan.
Remixing a near-perfect album may seem like a bizarre move, but we are talking about Maynard James Keenan, after all. “’All Re-Mixed Up’ is the continuation of the Puscifer tradition to release alternate versions, reworks, and remixes of what we consider initial thoughts,” explains Maynard James Keenan. “For instance, Carina Round was nervous about how to approach her version of ‘Telling Ghosts.’ Mat Mitchell put her at ease by asking her to think of it as a song half written, advising her to ‘now write the other half.’ It’s extremely liberating in the digital age to approach composing and creating in this manner. Infinite paths to explore, reinterpret, and re-present.”
Along with current Puscifer contributors, musicians from outside the family have been invited to etch their mark on ‘Conditions of My Parole,’ including rear end enthusiast Sir Mix-A-Lot … yes, that Sir Mix-A-Lot.
You’re a bold man, Maynard. Puscifer’s ‘All Re-Mixed Up’ album is set for an Aug. 27 release date. Check out the full track listing for the record below.
