The new album is great. Poppy, but still incredible!
I think “Boomerang” “Don’t Blink” and “Collapsible Lung” are the best. For me, I’ve always been able to feel a spiritual foundation in their music, even if the song didn’t directly speak to it. This album basically abandoned that. Talking about drinking to cope, one night stands, it’s so out of character for them it’s kinda hard to enjoy.
I guess you have to look at it with a different record, this one is meant to be more laid back and fun, especially after how heavy Forget And Slow Down was, but I am with you, I just found it so hard to enjoy this one, it even felt like Boomerang fell short after listening to live performances, but they did say that they’re next record would be more rock, so hold on for that one (:
Essentially; this album is what happens when Relient K doesn’t write their own record. I think only 3 songs were written entirely by RK.
