Hit makers Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj and Jessie J are planning to release a song together on July 29, and the yet-to-be-heard collaboration is reminiscent of 2001's "Lady Marmalade" in group structure, with powerhouse vocalists and a rapper in the mix.
"Lady Marmalade," from the Moulin Rouge soundtrack, memorably infused the talents of Christina Aguilera, Pink, Mya and Lil' Kim, resulting in a No.1 spot on Billboard's Hot 100 and a Grammy win for Best Pop Collaboration.
Whether Ariana, Nicki and Jessie can achieve the same success is still unknown, though the trio's upcoming song "Bang Bang" will undoubtedly draw heavy buzz online as Nicki's blog is already dubbing it the "musical event of the year."
Twitter told Mashable the #BangBang hashtag has been used 31,000 times.
"Bang Bang" will be produced by Max Martin, Savan Kotecha and Ilya as the first single from Jessie J's fall album release and as an addition to Ariana's My Everything deluxe album.
Ariana's latest single "Problem" featuring Austrialian rap sensation Iggy Azalea is lodged at No. 2 on the Hot 100, behind Iggy's song-of-the-summer contender "Fancy."
Meanwhile, Nicki, who on Sunday won Best Female Rapper at the BET Awards, claimed the No. 44 spot with "Pills N Potions."
English star Jessie J, best known for her hits "Domino" and "Price Tag," hasn't released a song since November, when "Thunder" was unleashed as her third single from her album "Alive".
