“The Veronicas” (previously known as “Life On Mars“, “The Awakening” and “You and Me“) is the upcoming self-titled third studio album by Australian pop duo The Veronicas formed by idential twins Jessica and Lisa Origliasso.
The album, which cites influences by classical music, classical rock and pop genres, will be their first release in over five years and is due to be put on sale during the last quarter of 2014 or early 2015.
Jessica Origliasso stated that the album will be inspired by artists The Subways, The Dead Weather, Mazzy Star, Ladytron and Peaches. They have described the album as “a little different from the last two records, a pop record with different undertones”
The first buzz single was “Lolita“, released on iTunes on July 27, 2012 through Sire and Warner Bros, but after several delays in the release of the album, and due to the fact of label conflict, The Veronicas break the contract with them and start new life as an independent label on early November 2013. In 2014, they signed a new major record deal with Sony Music Entertainment to release and promote the album.
The album is described as “Uncensored”, the standard edition consists of 14 tracks and they have confirmed that there will be a deluxe edition with some bonus tracks. They also confirmed upcoming tour in 2015.
