Heavenly Beat’s latest album, Designer, was recorded entirely in John Felix Peña’s apartment, and the first single from the record appropriately starts off with the sounds outside of a window on a rainy day — cars squeak by, the faint hum of people can be heard on street level. The mood level of “Intent” doesn’t rise much above that over the rest of its four minute runtime, but that seems to be on purpose. This is music for when you’re stuck inside and can’t work up the motivation to get out. It moseys along at a measured pace, luxuriating in the synths and saxs that dot the song’s border.
Designer will be self-released later this year.
