With a name like Heaving Earth and an album called Denouncing the Holy Throne I only expect insanity, chaos and complete devastation. Well I wasn’t let down because the sheer annihilation brought on to me by this band is more than I even expected. The fiery moxie to destroy your senses is felt on every song. The pummeling of the drums is like firing an LMG for an hour straight. The riffing is a combination of hectic Artificial Brain anxiety driven pounding and catchy Hate Eternal focused anthems with weird old school Morbid Angel appeal and Omnihility blasphemy. Vocals are that of a beast, which leads the death metal ship towards oblivion. The result is an expert case of genre bending death metal that everyone needs to listen to.
Heaving Earth’s album blasts it’s way immediately into my head, never letting me forget the intensity of the music I had just heard. “Denouncing the Holy Throne” is pure hate in audio form. This band feels much more than just a death metal band as the music gives off a violent cinematic feeling, as music builds and builds and never seems to ease up. The awkwardness in the leads gives this album character as it blazes an ungodly trail of death over the already terror driven rhythms. The orchestral display of fear inducing power is musically inspiring and more often than not a fresh breath of air.
