It’s hard to remember the last time I had as high hopes for a sophomore effort as I do for that of Rivers of Nihil.
The band’s debut, The Conscious Seed of Light, absolutely CRUSHED, and found its way onto many a year-end list. So will they now hit a sophomore slump, or reaffirm their place as one of the best young metal bands out there today?
My educated guess: it’s the latter! ‘Cause the band has now announced the release of their second offering, Monarchy, AND unveiled the first single from that album, “Perpetual Growth Machine”… and it’s absolutely annihilative. An actual, real-life sharknado wouldn’t be a tenth as deadly; the digital wizards behind San Andreas only wish they could conceive of such destruction.
