When Axis: Sova shared “Violent Yellow” this past summer, it portended great things for the Chicago rockers’ forthcoming Motor Earth. Now the album is streaming in full, and — yup — it’s great! Brett Sova’s skuzz-bashers are releasing their latest through Ty Segall’s Drag City imprint God? Records, which should give you some idea of their preferred mode of guitar clatter. Motor Earth is post-Stooges, post-Hawkwind, post-Cheater Slicks rock ‘n’ roll, raw and elemental in execution but smarter than your average blare. Hear the whole thing below, and I do mean the whole thing — closer “Routine Machine” is a wah-wah kumbaya downward spiral worth waiting for.
