Seattle upstarts Nail Polish play jagged, high-energy punk songs that make an immediate impression. Their sound was already bracing on last year’s Abrupt EP, and in the time since then they’ve somehow ratcheted up the intensity to new levels. Authentic Living, Nail Polish’s full-length debut, is a furiously loud and hard-hitting collection of tracks about “anxiety, male privilege, street harassment, and existential dread.” Every song is rhythmically jarring and so tensely brittle you could snap it over your knee. It basically sounds like Wire if every member played with one finger stuck in an electrical socket.
