Blackest Ever Black has announced another album of “poignant, isolationist machine music” from North Carolina’s Secret Boyfriend.
Set for release in January 2016, Memory Care Unit is the follow-up to 2013’s underrated This Is Where You’ve Always Lived, and “guides us through vast interior topographies and nerve-damaged ambiences that comfort and deceive like memory itself.”
The former album was notable for its lo-fi, confessional approach, but Memory Care Unit takes the form of a series of “crude, extended live improvisations” that take the form of “electronic pop undressed, unravelled and mapped onto the infinite wave.”
