On the most recent episode of their IFC show Documentary Now!, the Saturday Night Live veterans Fred Armisen and Bill Hader, along with old friend Maya Rudolph, staged a full-on parody of the Talking Heads’ classic 1984 concert film Stop Making Sense. We’ve posted clips from the episode, as well as the in-character Seth Meyers performance that they gave. Last night, the episode finally aired. And as Pitchfork points out, it turns out that Hader and Armisen recorded a full-on album in character as the band Test Pattern. A whole album! Eight songs! They really went to all that trouble! This is actually the second parody album that Hader and Armisen have made; last year, they went all ’70s soft-rock as the Blue Jean Committee.
