Ambient producer William Basinski is back with a new album — A Shadow in Time — which he has been touring extensively with in the US and Europe the past year. The album is an eulogy to David Robert Jones, also known as David Bowie. It features two songs each about 20 minutes long. The first track, A Shadow in Time, is an epic ambient meltdown that resembles his critically acclaimed Disintegration Loops featuring a crying saxophone and grand, bass heavy landscapes. The latter, For David Robert Jones, while still grand and spacious, is more of a peaceful sonata featuring an intimate piano melody — a beautiful and respectful cadeau to one of the greatest icons of our time.
