While the rumours of the original Smashing Pumpkins line-up were to be reunited for a 2017 tour have been steady, Corgan has instead announced a solo album. While a new Smashing Pumpkins, with the new line-up, was planned (called "Moments to An Elegy") it seems like it has been scrapped or at least put on hold.

This is Corgan's second solo album, following the terrible TheFutureEmbrace project.

I was going to say the same thing. There was supposed to be a followup called “Day for Night” after “Monuments to an Elegy” was released and I am pretty sure the songs were mostly recorded during the same session, things just needed to be finalized and the album was supposed to be released in late 2014 at first, then was pushed to early 2015…and then was pushed off of a cliff or something because I havent heard shit about it in years.

So that never happened. Then there was a mostly acoustic tour for a while, actually caught one of those shows and it was pretty awesome. Afterwards they went right into the studio to record some songs based off of ideas they came up with on that tour. It was intended to be a brand new album (not Day for Night), but that never went anywhere either. Rumors of a reunion tour with the original lineup started surfacing and apparently this solo album. So, who knows what the state of SP is at the moment. Maybe once the original lineup gets back together (rumored 2018 tour), they’ll hit the studio and make 90’s SP magic happen with a brand new OG lineup record?

I’m all for hidden gems, undiscovered or underrated. But Future Embrace is a terrible record.
If Corgan reinterpreted some of the songs, like he did on tour, there might be some redeeming qualities – But the studio album is horrible :P

Camera Eye, Mina Loy, Walking Shade, and the cover of “To Love Somebody”….. if you find those songs terrible, we couldn’t disagree more.
