Tulipa Ruiz Tu

The single title, "Game", can be read as a conjugation, in portuguese, of the verb "gamar" (something as "to fall in love" in english), as well as the real translation of the english word. Tulipa herself considers valid both readings of the single she chose to open the promotional works of her fourth studio album, "Tu", expected to be released in November. With cover that shows illustration of the own Tulip , the single Game arrives on October 27 to digital platforms.

Echoes of Gal Costa's lightness from the 1970s can be heard, and in this composition by Tulipa and her brother Gustavo Ruiz, the singer-songwriter sounds free, light and loose, with suingue from the guitar and percussion, advancing the climate of the album, recorded by Tulipa with Gustavo Ruiz and Stéphane San Juan in the studio maintained by the sound engineer Scotty Hard in Greenpoint, in the Brooklyn, New York.

“TU” would be, at first, an exercise album, so to speak. A record whose seed had been planted in Tulipa and Gustavo’s mind seven years ago, when they first set out for Europe, still with her debut album “Efêmera”, for unplugged performances. "And the result, from critic and public, for these crude performances, was very good," recalls the brother, who was conducting the guitar. She, owner of the voice, understood how the songs, less filled by the band soundings, were more understood. "The reaction of the audience is different. I can see that there is a new way of understanding music", she explains.

The songs are in the "nude" format, jokes Tulipa. (...) “Dancê”, she says, is not finished yet. The tour continues until the beginning of 2018, when she returns to "work in a band album". Until then, “TU” is the union of the will with chance. "It's as if a hole had been created in space-time so we could record this album", says Gustavo. Tulipa concludes: "I needed to find a gap for the existence of this record. Or we would putting it off. It needed to be now."
