Austin based duo Capyac return with an unprecedented new EP for 2018. Two years after their debut album release 'Headlunge', the group finessed their stage presence with eccentric costumes and a growing number of instruments that add to their live ensemble. A brief four-track 'Fis' released last February to further extend their catalog was followed by a good string of performances, including a spot in Austin's September edition Red Bull Sound Select alongside Tennyson and CLASSIXX.
'Who Is Donny Flamingo?' is a funk-centric, fusion project which explores song making that's high in energy and ready for the stage. It's a concept release which makes note of the song writing process with contextual tales provided for songs like "Down In It", featuring Caroline Watson. 'Donny Flamingo' supplies ample amounts of saxophone, synth and a multitude of drum pads and sounds, piled on to their deepened electronic production. On the EP, P. Sugz says "certainly, Donny Flamingo is a curious character that is difficult to define, a complex villain, a tale as old as tails..." This complexity translates to their music as the EP expresses variances not yet tapped by the band and guest features which broaden the horizon.
'Who Is Donny Flamingo?' pre-released on bandcamp a week earlier than other streaming platforms.
