Australia’s own Disentomb have been kicking around the modern death metal scene for a good ten years now. A decade of brutality now sees the Aussies metallers reveal their long-awaited third LP, ‘The Decaying Light‘, their first new album in five years.
After 2010’s ‘Sunken Chambers of Nephilim‘ and 2014’s ‘Misery‘, ‘The Decaying Light‘ is a long time coming, It’s set to feature 13 tracks of dark, lacerating and doom-laden death metal. And as it turns out, the record’s first single, ‘Your Prayers Echo Into Nothingness‘, is seriously just that.
‘Your Prayers Echo Into Nothingness‘ is absolutely suffocating with wicked riffs, fast blasts and low growls. It’s just pure and unadulterated death metal throughout. Don’t expect anything widely different from Disentomb or their fellow death metal peers with this new track (and perhaps the larger LP too). For this is a band who knows what they are, and aren’t going to change that. However, if a band of Disentomb’s ilk can make four-minutes of hectic, punishing death metal not feel like an utter chore to sit through, then they’re clearly doing something right. Bonus points for also being able to distinguish the bass playing in the mix too!
‘The Decaying Light‘ lands on July 12th, 2019 via EVP Recordings (Australia) and Unique Leader (ROTW), with the four-piece hitting Australian and New Zealand locales in July and August to showcase this new material.
