Despite innumerable releases in their 25 year existence, As the Love Continues will be only the 10th album proper by the Scottish Post-Rock stalwarts, Mogwai. It appears the album, which is the bands first since 2017's flawless Every Country's Sun, was finished earlier in 2020 but delayed due to the pandemic. Recording was done at Vada Studios, England by Tony Doogan with Dave Fridmann in full remote control from the US. The album features contributions from Atticus Ross and Colin Stetson. If first single Dry Fantasy is any indication, the album will have a more electronic sound, not unlike the bands 2014 full length, Rave Tapes. Krautrock has been a frequent stylistic touchstone in the past and comes to the fore here.
According to a press release, "Both transcendent and surprising, As the Love Continues shows that Mogwai are still offering solace from the mundane, supplying the soundtrack to whatever movie you are making in your head."
