History Books is the upcoming sixth studio album by American rock band the Gaslight Anthem. It is scheduled for an October 27, 2023 release via Rich Mahogany Recordings. The album will mark the first full-length release from the band in nearly a decade, with 2014's Get Hurt serving as their final release before an indefinite hiatus.
The band remained inactive until 2018, when they would reunite for a 10th anniversary tour celebrating The '59 Sound, their second studio album. They would enter another dormant period following the tour. In March 2022, the band had become active once again and began working on History Books.
Later that year, they would return to touring. Positive Charge, the first new song from The Gaslight Anthem in just under a decade, was released in April 2023. History Books was officially announced as the band's sixth studio album, alongside the release of its title track featuring Bruce Springsteen, on July 21st.
