Fontaines D.C. push further into uneasy territory on *Dopamine Chamber*, their fifth album, out October 16 through XL Recordings. Produced by James Ford, it follows *Romance* into a colder, more synthetic world, pairing ambitious melodies with questions about pleasure, distraction and emotional numbness. The title captures Grian Chatten’s concept of the record as a space where each song changes the listener’s mood.
Led by “Marianne” and “Tongue,” the eleven-track album also includes “Where Is Gone?”, a collaboration with Rosalía. Its underlying premise gives that expansion a darker purpose: what happens to our appetite for escape when the world becomes increasingly difficult to face? *Dopamine Chamber* positions that tension between gratification and unease at the centre of Fontaines D.C.’s next chapter.
