The project startet in 2008 as a jam session with Jan Haußels, Yves Krismer and Benedikt Trenkwalder. Since 2009 the trio called itself “Mother’s Cake” and created their very own progressive sound.
In course of the Austrian Local Heroes Band Contest 2010, which they won, they played the European Local Heroes Finals and made 2nd place amongst more than thousand bands.
That was when Mother’s cake drew attention of the Austrian producer Georg Gabler and his Label GAB Music Productions – located in Vienna – and directly got signed at GAB Music. Their debut “Creation’s Finest” (release-date: 26-10-2012) got featured by Ikey Owens, former member of The Mars Volta, actual member of Jack White’s band. Creation’s Finest created a big stir in Austrian music press and ensured Mother’s Cake a firm stand in the business.
The single “Soul Prison” (17-08-2012) reached over 200,000 views on Youtube.
2013 they got awarded with the “Austrian Newcomer Award 2013″ and played many sold-out shows including support gigs for Iggy and the Stooges, Omar Rodriguez Lopez Group, Deftones and Tito & Tarantula.
The “Endless Space Tour 2014″ led them to Australia in February 2014. They band was welcomed cordially in Down Under and successfully played 12 shows in 2 weeks. On April 4th, Mother’s Cake released their album in Germany, played a tour there and announced their new video project.
“Off The Beaten Track” comes as a 45-minutes long movie that features a whole live set of Mother’s Cake! The group played the gig without any pauses or brakes, so that you have real live feeling at home. It was funded with a successful crowd-funding and will officially be released on 17th of July, 2014.
In fall 2014 Mother’s Cake support Anathema on their Distant Satellites tour leading through 20 countries playing 42 shows in 56 days.

Mother’s Cake – gegründet im Jahr 2008 – ist ein Österreichisches Progressive-Rock Trio und besteht aus Jan Haußels (Drums, Backing Vocals) Yves Krismer (Gitarre, Lead Vocals), Benedikt Trenkwalder (Bass).
Ihr Debütalbum Creation’s Finest erscheint am 26.10.2012 bei GAB Music (unter Vertrag seit 2011) und verschafft der aufstrebenden Band neben dem Austrian Newcomer Award (2013) zahlreiche euphorische Kritiken.
Auf nationaler Ebene erlangt Mother’s Cake schnell den Ruf eines ausgezeichnetes Live-Acts und gibt den Support für internationale Größen wie Iggy & The Stooges, Deftones, Bosnian Rainbows und Living Colour. Die Band bespielt mit Creation’s Finest die größten und bekanntesten Clubs und Venues Österreichs, u.a. Flex, Arena, ORF RadioKulturhaus (alle Wien), Treibhaus (Innsbruck), außerdem zahlreiche Festivals, wie z.B. das Freakwave, Full Tension, Kunstmue, Woodrock, Wiesenrock Festival.
Das Video der ersten Single-Auskopplung Soul Prison feat. Ikey Owens (aktuell bei Jack White, vormals The Mars Volta) wird zu einem Youtube-Hit (mehr als 200.000 Aufrufe) und schlägt Wellen weit über Österreichs Grenzen hinaus.
Nachdem Mother’s Cake bereits erfolgreich europaweit reüssiert (G, CH, HU, IT und F), führt die Endless Space Tour die Band als Headliner im Februar 2014 durch die Club- und Festivalszene Australiens. Außerdem veröffentlicht die Gruppe ihr Erstlingswerk offiziell in Down Under.
Creation’s Finest erscheint ebenso am 04.04.2014 in Deutschland und erzeugt erneut Resonanzen quer durch das Land.
Für Sommer 2014 kündigt Mother’s Cake die Veröffentlichug eines gewaltigen Videoprojekts an: Mother’s Cake | Off The Beaten Track. Finanziert aust Eigenmitteln und mit Hilfe einer erfolgreichen Crowd-Funding Aktion zeichnet die Band im mittlerweile abgerissenen Innsbrucker Kulturcafé Propolis ein ganzes Live-Konzert auf, um es anschließend über Youtube der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich zu machen.

Im Herbst 2014 supportet Mother’s Cake die britische Progressive Metal Band Anathema auf ihrer Distant Satellites Tour, die in 56 Tagen und mit 42 Shows durch 20 Länder führt.
