It was five years in-between the release of Car Bomb’s debut, Centralia, and its follow-up, w^w^^w^w. So us Car Bomb fans should consider ourselves lucky that the band has only taken four years to get out their third record, Meta. We should also count ourselves lucky that the record has a title we can pronounce and spell without double checking to make sure we got the all the ^s in the right place.
All kidding aside, I fucking love Car Bomb, and I’m so stoked they’re back again. The first single from Meta, “From the Dust of This Planet,” is three minutes of characteristically unclassifiable avant-math-something-core. Actually, when the song began I was like, “Wow, this is pretty straight-forward for Car Bomb!”, and then I got to the :34 mark and was like, “AH, there it is!”
Check out “From the Dust of This Planet” below! Meta will be out October 28; you can pre-order it here, at which point you’ll get an immediate download of “Planet.” The album features guest vocals by Frank Mullen from Suffocation and was produced by some guy named Joe Duplantier, who also contributes vocals. Additionally, Car Bomb will be on tour with The Dillinger Escape Plan, O’Brother, and Cult Leader this fall.
These guys slay!
I played a show with these guys years ago! They were killer, glad to see they’re still at it.
