Founded in 1996, San Diego's grindcore/brutal death metal band Cattle Decapitation, mainly protest the mistreatment and consumption of animals, as well as the abuse of the environment. Their lyrics also focus on subjects such as misanthropy and genocide of the human race. Being a vegan band that belongs to a subgenre mostly dealing with matters of gore, is pretty ironic and yet fitting at the same time. Cattle Decapitation also incorporates quite a lot of melody in their music, whilst still managing to maintain its brutal sound.
