MACHINE HEAD's ninth full-length album, "Catharsis" was recorded with Zack Ohren (FALLUJAH, ALL SHALL PERISH) at Sharkbite Studios in Oakland, California. A January 2018 release via Nuclear Blast is expected.
MACHINE HEAD's latest track, "Is There Anybody Out There?", cracked the Top 40 on the Active Rock chart in the United States in August 2016. It marked the first time any Nuclear Blast artist has entered what is widely considered to be the "official rock chart" for the United States, and only the the third time the band had charted in the Top 40 in their illustrious career.
MACHINE HEAD last year wrapped up the tour cycle for its first Nuclear Blast Entertainment album, "Bloodstone & Diamonds", where the band toured for twenty months and performed a whopping two hundred and eighty-three concerts on five different continents around the world. Around two hundred and fifti of those shows were performed as "An Evening With MACHINE HEAD," with no support bands and performances often lasting two and a half to three hours. Three tours of the United States, three tours of Europe, (including multiple dates in Russia and Greece), shows in Mexico and South America, a completely sold-out run of nine Australian / New Zealand shows, sold-out dates in Japan, and their first-ever plays in Taiwan and Thailand, and all without any festival performances which the band publicly announced they would stop performing at in 2014.
"Bloodstone & Diamonds" debuted at No. 21 on The Billboard 200 chart with 19,000 sold its first week.
I loved Eyes when it came out but it’s crap ever since.
Reading the description here on this says it all.. he got a taste of Radio rock.
Guy is a pandering self absorbed douche for attention. (jumped on nu-metal bandwagon)
And what did he say about this album ? It’s not as heavy.. wow shocked LOL
I quit caring loooong ago about what Rob thinks or plays.
Hilarious. You say, “I quit caring loooong ago about what Robb thinks or plays”, yet you still feel the need to comment on their 9th album (23 years after the last album you liked) and see if it’s leaked so you can secretly download it, love it behind closed doors, but be an internet troll to the public…. Such a pathetic loser behind a computer screen…
OMG.
That HAMMER goes in you FACE! @xpmule
Reading about this album I did not expect to like Beyond The Pale, but I did. Its a pretty good song. Nothing compared to songs from albums like Burn my Eyes, The Burning Red or my personal favorite The more things change. They never really made another great LP after The burning red. From Supercharger forward, they made a lot of good songs but never another really solid album. While I like Beyond The Pale, I don’t want a whole album that sounds like that and I fear they are leading with one of the heavier songs as the first single. If the rest of the album is lighter then this (and it most likely is), I don’t see myself listening through it more then once.
Are you serious? Through the ashes on has been great albums as a whole. The blackening alone is credited to be a masterpiece by most. Robb said that Beyond the pale isn’t the heaviest or fastest song on the album.
I just like the early more vocal work more.
I’m kind of worried about this album since reading the Decibel review, but the last 4 albums have really hit it out of the park, so I’m getting this one anyway. Saw them on the “An Evening With…” tour in February of 2015 in Des Moines, and it was the best live show I’ve ever been to. Yeah, Robb says some stuff here and there, but he’s human just like the rest of us. He spent a lot of time and effort on this new album, and to have someone rip apart what you worked so hard on would piss me off too. Thing is, he always returns to things with a clearer head.
These guys are the real deal!
New track ‘Bastards’ is an absolute snooze fest. “OMG I don’t like the President wah wah wah or how America is” we get it Robb, now go back to making decent music.
i think that name of album is good, cause it seems that MH is in that state now… will give this a chance, but i think that no new “eyes” or “things” is going in future… so shame
So I’ve heard the CD and it’s… awkward?
the thing about it is it’s 15 songs long and easy 5-6 could’ve been removed and they would be left with a real strong album actually. The inclusion of the very unmetal stuff actually just goes to stifle the flow of the record because you end up wanting to skip them.
If I was Machine Head I would’ve released a separate record/EP of the “out there” stuff.
Big on them though for swinging for the fences on this one.
Can you leak it lol? Or you’re a journalist?
Any chance of releasing it to the public? or you can’t?
Where did you listen the new abum?
Kaleidoscope is available on Kingdom Leaks
Well their last four albums have been amazing. it was bound to happen at some point. I think this album will be a forgettable one, i’m all for experimenting with your sound, but you already had the formula that worked in your hands. Also seems like with fifteen songs on an album there will be a lot of weird filler songs or songs that just don’t stand out. Looking at their last four most of them had under 10 songs and pretty much every song on those albums were solid. Here’s to hoping I eat my own words, but I have very big doubts this will be a good album.
where did you listen de album?
After three listens, my gut was right. Very forgettable album overall, the only song that stood out was Heavy Lies The Crown. That song is the type of material Machine is and has been able to produce on a constant basis over the last three or four albums. The two acoustic songs and more than half of this album should have been considered b-sides at best. Also for someone who is really mad over the current state of the US the lyrics had no passion or anger behind them. The mix and the classic Machine Head sound is there throughout the whole album. The lyrical content of if just plain out sucked.
ŻAŁOSNE NIE POLECAM
Yep, they’ve tried to change their image and sound again like they do every several years, I assume to stay relevant, and it just doesn’t seem to work. I appreciate bands attempting to “evolve”, but MH are very hit and miss with it.
