DELAYED FILMS, SUMMER OF 2020

As we’re continued being haunted by the coronavirus plague, the entertainment business has shut down. Streaming sites are seeing a peak, with Netflix skipping the cinematic run and adding titles to their platform. But many films have been delayed this summer. Here’s a rundown of unfortunate delays

Christopher Nolan’s Tenet is still up in the air, as it’s set to premiere in the autumn. Depending on where we are by then, it might get pushed to 2021.

Minions is sadly returning with a film which will continue to eat parent wallets. Get prepare to put this on repeat when you have downloaded it, and then resume it once it has hit streaming sites. Basically, be prepared to kill yourself. Update:  It’s also been delayed, so enjoy your freedom while you can.

One of the most popular an in-demand upcoming films on Where You Watch is Like a Boss. Still set for an official digital release.

“The comedy film Like a Boss puts the friendship of two best friends to the test when their startup cosmetics company faces a downfall and an industry giant expresses an interest in investing in it.

Mia Carter (Tiffany Haddish) and Mel Paige (Rose Byrne) are best friends. They are basically inseparable. Both have been living together for years after they first met. They seem to be doing great as they have turned their garage startup into a cosmetics company. However, things change for Mia and Mel when Clair Luna (Selma Hayek) enters the picture at the time when their company is in the hole. The moment that money enters the picture, their friendship is put to the test.”

Directed by Miguel Arteta, Like a Boss stars Rose Byrne, Tiffany Haddish, Salma Hayek, Karan Soni, Natasha Rothwell, Jennifer Coolidge, and Billy Porter among others. While Like a Boss may seem to be a predictable movie, it may be the comedy film that we need to distract us from what’s happening right now.

And then we got the documentary Tread. While it’s real-life, I don’t want to give too much away simply by saying that “a regular, nice, nothing out of the ordinary man and then his dark obsession of having his void heard is shown”. Or but it simple, he builds his own tank and decides to run over the town with it.

There’s also a documentary being released about Bill Cunningham, an extraordinary fashion photographer during the 70’s New York.

Another documentary-styled teen drama is Never, Rarely, Sometimes, Always which was just released. Two friends go to the big city to get an abortion in a state in which the practice is allowed.

If you’re looking for brainless comedy, adventure, action, sci-fi featuring Ryan Reynold you’ll get exactly that in Free Guy. A movie which looks kind of bland, mediocre comedy – But our standards for what’s good might have sunk pretty low by July. Or early autumn where we’ll likely get a download.

Famous indie film production and studio A24 is about to release their next horror movie following Hereditary and Midsommar, with Saint Maud. Update: While this one was just set to be released, it’s unfortunately been delayed “indefinitely”.

Keep up with upcoming dates

If you want to follow upcoming movies, we’re obviously recommending our movie site Where You Watch. But we also have a guide to Radarr, which automatically downloads movies as soon as they are pirated. The Wrap also have a list of films in production, like The Matrix 4, which has currently been paused indefinitely.
