MOST WANTED ALBUM LEAKS – EVER

We’ve been tracking leaks for six years now and with over 20 000 albums reported, it’s time to reveal the most requested leaks on the site.

Daft Punk – Random Access Memories

The duo got so many things right with this release. A perfect combination of secrecy, an excellent series of videos revealing guest appearances and a PR campaign and budget that was out of this world. And then we had that single. Lucky is the mother of all hit singles. Somehow it didn’t matter if the album was good or not, we wanted it anyway. And my God people wanted it to leak.

And it’s the only band being the biggest band of Coachella that year, without even playing.

2. Eminem – The Marshall Mathers LP 2

The follow-up to Eminem’s biggest album was obviously a big thing – But the leak anticipation was still surprisingly insane. And then it hit. Someone had bought a copy of the album, stolen straight from the studio, and decided to leak the whole thing. Internet’s biggest hiphop forum went insane and crashed Has it Leaked’s servers for days.

3. A Day To Remember – Common Courtesy

While the band is hardly known outside of the US, the punk rock band’s fans were incredibly dedicated at the time. It might not have been the biggest album or even the most popular leak on the site, but with fans constantly refreshing the album page, combined with over 70 pages of comments, the album stress tested the site like no other back in 2012.

4. Kanye West – Yeezus and The Life of Pablo

It’s a tie between Yeezus and The Life of Pablo. And the latter album wouldn’t have entered the Top 10, if it wasn’t for… You guessed it: Tidal. Making the album exclusive to Jay Z’s streaming service (which somehow is still alive in 2018?) made a lot of people torrent the album instead of signing up for a Tidal account. The album never actually leaked but because so many Google’d a free download, Has it Leaked got a piece of the pie.

5. Drake – Views

It’s a tight race between this and Nothing Was The Same, but Hotline Bling managed to hype up Views months before its release. Views From The Six, as it was titled just before release, brought Drake from mainstream to super, super mainstream. It’s no wonder his latest record Scorpion is breaking all kinds of streaming records.

Honorable mentions

You might be surprised to know that Earl Sweatshirt’s Doris had more visitors than any Tyler, The Creator album. Here are ten more albums, all receiving copious amounts of hits.

6. Eminem – Revival

7. Arctic Monkeys – AM

8. Lana Del Rey – Ultraviolence

9. Muse – Drones

10. Arctic Monkeys – Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino

11. Linkin Park – The Hunting Party

12. Post Malone – Beerbongs and Bentleys

13. Frank Ocean – Blonde

14. Slipknot – .5: The Gray Chapter

15. Gorillaz – Humanz

So, are leaks dead? Not as long as fans can’t wait for their favorite artist next record.
