Interpol have announced the release of their new album El Pintor (that's Spanish for "the painter"). The follow-up to to 2010's self-titled LP arrives September 9 in North America and September 8 internationally.
The band recorded the LP at Electric Lady Studios and Atomic Sound in New York City with James Brown (Arctic Monkeys, Foo Fighters), while mixing was handled by Alan Moulder (My Bloody Valentine, Nine Inch Nails) in London.
Interpol accompanied their announcement with a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the album, directed by Adam Levite.
It’s different, more atmospheric…there are some really good tracks, but it needs time to grow. Overall it’s a very interesting album, a very fresh approach to their characteristic sound.
Been listening to it today, great album.
It seems they have matured and evolved their sound into something that’s more of their own. By which I mean that while Turn on the bright lights is still my favorite, with El Pintor they sound more like “Interpol” and less like Joy Division.
Very interesting change of pace.
Standouts from the record, so far, are:
3- Anywhere
9- Tidal Wave
love the riff in My Desire
Isn’t it so beautiful??
I’m just so excited to buy this album, even do I already download it.
This album is beautiful, made me fell in love with Interpol all over again. It’s cool finding different details everytime I listen to it.
For now, I’d say that Twice As Hard is the one giving me the ~~chills~~
The iTunes exclusive track “The Depths” is probably the best thing I’ve heard from Interpol since the mid 2000s. No clue why it didn’t make the final album cut
