It will be LL Cool J's first album since his 2008 release of Exit 13. Production started in June 2012. First single 'Ratchet' released on 6th October 2012. To be released on the label Connect, his first album not to be released by Def Jam. Take It is the second single off the album. The album was originally scheduled to be released on February 12, 2013, but was pushed back. On February 8, 2013, it was announced the album title would be changed from Authentic Hip-Hop to Authentic with a new release date of April 30, 2013, and a new cover. On February 11, 2013, the song "Whaddup" was released.

    I can’t wait for this to drop, I’m a big LL fan since day one. I have all his cd’s, need this one to add to the collection. I just wish it was more hip-hop insted of all these love songs. Either way I will support the project.

    Heard it I gotta Say NO DOUBT The Greatest of all Time Track after track its one you can really just play from front to back It could have been an 8 Track LOL BACK then you had to let the music play NO SKIPPING ya fell me but back to the Album Fire!!!! Knock um out the Box L Knock um Out!
