A new release date was confirmed Novemeber 5th, 2013.
Sadly, confirmed does not mean much for M.I.A. In this day and age, especially with her constant battle with her label, I just don’t see why musicians can’t attempt to release their stuff themselves.

Related to the release date mentioned below, M.I.A. threatened to leak the album herself if the record label didn’t provide a release date. So, if they postpone it again, she may end up leaking it anyways. Here’s hoping.

The introduction sounds pretty biased and condescending against MIA. Self righteous? Occasionally misguided? Extremist? Prickly? Way to keep it objective. How about innovative, thought-provoking, exciting? Why frontload it with the loaded descriptors?

I just downloaded it at Mega Beta but the file name is album.zip so I guess it will be hard to find without the direct link.

M.I.A. is undoubtedly hip-hop / rap.
Her music is definitely seeing some electronic / dance influence, however this is the direction that the genre is taking. For examples, see Danny Brown’s Dip, A$AP Rocky’s Wild For The Night and even Kanye West’s Send It Up.
After listening to the whole album 5 times or so now, the album seems a bit ‘meh’. I’ll continue to listen to it more but I still can’t help but feel like Matangi is a miss. One thing is for sure, it makes me want to bust out yoga while listening to this album. Namaste.
I have to respectfully disagree. Her sound is definitely more edgy and choppy than Kala, and less polished than MAYA. It’s very “rootsy” and sounds a lot like some of her mixtape material. Closest in sound to Arular, and her slower songs are perfection. This album won’t break her into the mainstream, and Bad Girls is a very misleading single, IMHO. Still, it’s been on repeat for me since it leaked, and I’m still finding new things to appreciate about it.
