Second album from The Empire of The Sun is titled Ice on the Dune and is set for a June release this year. In line with their previous singles and music videos, the album has a big budget, grandiose trailer attached to it. The band is made up of Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore.
The band also made a statement, which in line with everything else they do, is epic and grand in scale - To say the least.
"Once, the world was pure. It was the Emperor and the Prophet who kept it thus. Each day, they charted the sun’s course across the sky, guided rivers down from mountain peaks, brought rains to quench raging fires. With the aid of their four priests, who possessed spirits of wild animals, they travelled the world tirelessly, maintaining nature’s delicate balance, allowing all things to grow and flourish -- always with the aid of the sacred jewel held atop the Emperor’s crown."
"But one night, as the Emperor slumbered, recovering from his labours, true darkness appeared. The King of Shadows, ever the bitter foe of the Empire, and all it had achieved, crept into their temple. Craving the Emperor’s power, he stole the jewel from his crown-- and in an instant the world was changed. Robbed of the bulk of his power, the Emperor and the Prophet watched helplessly as their temple was torn asunder, and their priests cast far out into the world. But even in that moment, when all appeared lost, there was one thing that the King of Shadows black heart simply could not have imagined... The Emperor and the Prophet have never abandoned hope."

Man, they are so weird and cheesy but they have good tunes, I’ll be following this leak.
Not just cheesy, ridiculous idiotic… but the first record had some really great songs, so, lets hope for a good summer record.

Hmmm Alive is a fresh summer song… but this song is really close to Walking On a Dream’s works. I hope they tried to make something new on this forthcoming LP.

I’m diggin “Alive” I agree with Clement that it’s got that same energy as “Walking On a Dream.” At the same time I feel like I can hear some new textures in there so I think there’s still hope to expect an album that displays some growth to their sound.
Does anyone agree that Alive could have been better???
I mean when I hear Walking on a Dream I immediatly break out into a goofy dance, but I do not feel that same energy with alive. That being said I’m in love with Discovery even though I’ve only heard seconds of it!!!

I dig Discovery(loop) also more than Alive. Alive is steady and has a cabrio flavour, but the “wow” effect is missing. In Discovery(loop) I’m goin’ totally crazy. Listening to the 10 minute mix all day and night.
