Iggy Pop has taken a break from commercials and Best Coast and Ke$ha collabs to release a new record with the Stooges. The punk pioneers are set to release Ready to Die on April 30 via Fat Possum.
Although the Stooges' last album was The Weirdness, released in 2007, Iggy is pegging this album as the followup to 1973's iconic Raw Power. It's the first to be credited to "Iggy and the Stooges" since then, and finds Iggy working with drummer Scott Asheton and guitarist James Williamson, who rejoined the band after Ron Asheton passed away in 2009. The Minutemen's Mike Watt returns on bass.
A press release notes that track titles include "Burn", "Sex & Money", and "Job". The band plans to tour in support of the album.
It has leaked.
