Magna Carta Holy Grail is the upcoming twelfth studio album by American rapper Jay-Z. The album is scheduled for release on July 4, 2013 by Roc-A-Fella and Roc Nation while being distributed by Universal.

During the fifth game of the 2013 NBA Finals, Jay-Z was featured in a new commercial by Samsung where he announced that his twelfth studio album would be titled, Magna Carta Holy Grail and would be released on July 4, 2013. He was seen speaking to producer Rick Rubin in the studio about the album saying, "The album is about, like this duality of how do you navigate through this whole thing, through success, through failures, through all this and remain yourself." The album will be available for free download on July 4, 12:01 a.m. EST, to the first one million Samsung Galaxy S III, Samsung Galaxy S4 and Samsung Galaxy Note II users.

View a short video below which features raw cuts from, what we presume is, the new album. The video features all of the likely collaborators, Pharrell, Timbaland, Swizz Beatz, and Rick Rubin. Can you get more stoked than this?

A confirmed track list has also been added, scroll down for more.

“Samsung Galaxy Smartphone users will be able to download an app June 24 that will allow the first 1 million users to unlock the Jay-Z’s 12th album for free July 4 at 12:01 a.m., 72 hours ahead of release.” So I guess it comes out July 7th

C’mon..Yeezus wasn’t that bad. Lyrically it was terribly written, but composition wise it was great. Magna Carta will be the best album of 2013 though…no doubt about that.

Yeezus wasn’t a disaster. Maybe a disaster to people who only listen to “rap”, but people who listen to “music” def understood the whole point of the album. Is it easy to listen to? No. Is it brilliant? Yes.

No Yeezus was not “brilliant”. I’m so sick of people who call anything that is different brilliant without thinking. You’re probably the same type of person who thinks that video of Lady Gaga gallivanting naked through a forest was “brilliant art”. No, it wasn’t. It was a pale naked bitch by some trees. You can derive meaning from anything if you try hard enough but the fact that you have to reach so deeply to find meaning does NOT make something good or in your words… “brilliant”. Yeezus was trash.

      Blueprint 2 sucked
All his work with R. Kelly sucked
      Blueprint 3 sucked
      Kingdom Come sucked…

Basically every other album Jigga drops ends up being boring…

True his work with R Kelly sucked by all his other work was either good or great blueprint 2 was a good album it just wasnt as good as the blueprint which is a classic and blueprint 3 was a great album too if anyone else put it out besides jay z it would be consider a classic its just you compare his new work with his old so much you dont appreciate the quality and Kingdom Come wasnt great but it has classic songs on there if you are a Jay Z fan you can appreciate every album separately

No. All of the Blueprint # sucked, especially 2. There were a couple good tracks and maybe it could have been redeemable if he had made it a single disc instead of a double album filled with terrible hooks and beats with no shelf life. Tell me that you can sit there and listen to that album start to finish. You lie.

like I said..I love them all but let’s be honest..no one is reciting the lyrics to “did it my way” even Jay hates that one. This album hasnt disapointed (not that i expected it too) and i’ll be in line come monday to get my copy

Agreed with you, Blueprint 2 was a let down for sure, however for what it was I didnt mind the 3rd. The 1st was decent for what it was, the black album was my favorite of the 2000’s

all the blueprint’s sucked? 2 should have been a single disk..Guru took the blame on that idea. but 1, a full disk for 2, and 3 are all good albums. I could listen to the blueprint 1 all day. You on some bullshit if you sayin that album sucked.

No. What I was saying was all of the sequels sucked. the original is a classic for sure. Jay has a problem with album fillers and that’s what the BP2 and 3 felt like. I’m about to download MCHG hoping it’s as dope as i want it to be.

Ok i’ll admit kingdom come and blueprint 3 sucked, he didnt make a good album when he came back from his ‘retirement’ except american gangster. Blue the black album pretty much redefined the genre and pretty much every single album he made before that was awesome apart from his collabrative work

A Million and One, City is Mine, Imaginary Players, Streets is Watching, Where I’m From, Friend or Foe 98, Lucky Me, You must Love Me, Rap Game/Cravk Game, Who You Wit II, Real Niggas do Real Things, Face Off…. You Thing THOSE songs sucked?

The only Songs I didn’t Care for was “I know what Girls Like” and “Sunshine”…thats because they were out of place on the album….you gotta be kidding me. Vol 1 was a Crazy Album.

Thats 12 out of 14 Songs that bang on that album….you’re buggin.

In my opinion Jay-z managed to generate more hype for his album than J.Cole + Mac Miller + Kanye combined, and had Samsung pick up the tab. Probably one of the smarter marketing campaigns I’ve seen for a while, also all of the promo content is super well done and intriguing.

Real hip hop is ageless. Put on a big L record and tell me that shit isn’t still ridiculous 10 plus years after his death. Mac miller will never reach the level of a jay z. Haha 500+ mil in the bank. Jay’s gone way downhill since the Black Album, though… Blueprint 3 was okay (though not really a Blueprint album), but the others have been pretty weak. I’m less excited for new Jay Z stuff over the last 10 years or so. And to answer your question, Kingdom Come is when a Jay Z album seriously disappointed.
