Following their self-released debut EP, Show Me Your Seven Secrets, at the end of 2014, I Hear Voices is available on limited 7” and download, and features The Stalker on the flip side. The single is an effortless slice of garage-rock and psych sounds, melodic riffs and hazy vocals.
Sunflower Bean have been a word of mouth phenomenon over the last year, following a great run at SXSW and an equally successful appearance at The Great Escape, where they are named NME’s best band of the festival. The band who formed in August 2013, made up of Julia Cumming, Nick Kivlen and Jacob Faber, are already veterans of the Brooklyn DIY scene. Drawing from a wealth of rugged lo-fi sounds, they have adapted the heroic charisma of VU psychedelia and Black Sabbath’s dark rock to fit their own generation’s drowsy indie ethos.
Limited 7" from one of 2015's buzz bands Sunflower Bean. 'I Hear Voices' and 'The Stalker' are the first vinyl offerings from Julia Cumming, Nick Kivlen, and Jacob Faber, AKA the neo-psych band Sunflower Bean. Sunflower Bean's style is that of a thick psychedelia mixed with touches of jangly post punk / new wave, complete with warping, billowing guitar textures that make pedal nerds drool a little bit and all the reverbed vocals that you could ask for. Think a mix of House of Love, Tame Impala and Spaceman 3.
