Lucinda William's followup to last year's award-winning "Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone" promises to be far more introspective and more personal than we've seen from her in recent years. This concept album works to tell stories of 1-20, a stretch of highway starting in Texas, heading to South Carolina, and the characters and landscapes inspired by it.
The most exciting part thing to look forward to in Williams' newest release are the two covers included: one, a cover of Bruce Springsteen's "Factory", as well as the beautiful "House of Earth", written by none other than Woody Guthrie.
