Since dropping their debut album, Be Impressive, in 2014 the four-piece has toured constantly. And while it’s a dream for a career to take off, the group says it didn’t take long for them discover the less glamorous side of life of the road. As frontman Chris Whitehall says, “Relationships are impossible to maintain, booze is in endless supply, and it’s really easy to make poor decisions and blame everything around you.”
So when they broke to write and record High Times for Low Lives, they let those feelings inform their new work, particularly on the reflective title track. “[The song] is about realizing what’s broken,” the singer explains, “and understanding that it doesn’t have to be that way.”
