Queens Of The Stone Age just announced a new album titled Villains by way of a video directed by Liam Lynch in which the band takes a polygraph test. The LP was produced in full by Mark Ronson, who is also featured in the video. A snippet of a new song called “Feet Don’t Fail Me” plays for about 45 seconds around the 2:00 mark. It’s quite possible that “Villains Of Circumstance,” which Josh Homme debuted live a few years ago, will be included on the forthcoming album.
Queens of the Stone Age have a new album coming out; so far, that’s all anyone has been able to get them to admit. But the curtains are finally lifting: The band debuted a new website today, featuring a graphic of a vintage-y television set with eight staticky channels.
Chris Payne of 104.1 KRZQ has claimed to have heard the first single off the record, and said on June 3 it’ll be unveiled in “two weeks”. After so much excitement followed his tweets, the radio host replied to fans telling them the single is a “song that invites everyone to the party so they can get their grove on.”

Excited to see this finally getting announced. Josh is known to write a new type of album each time, and from what I can hear, judging by the single snippet, they are once again heading in a new exciting direction. Hoping we get a download release date soon so we can start estimating when a leak might happen. Their previous albums have all leaked in advance, by weeks.

I haven’t made up my mind about the new single. On one hand, I appreciate them going in a new direction. At the same time, I was hoping for a more aggressive track. But I’m really curious what Ronson brings to the more downtempo tracks.
Honestly this is not a bad tune,but just not an amazing one.The flaws that I am seeing are mainly that it doesn’t take off. The drums feels limited and guitar is just buzzing. I do have to say it grows on you, it has a nice groove to it.

So far I’m not sure what I think, a little worried – sounds surprisingly uncreative for QotSA. But at the same time it’s Josh Homme – can’t co wrong with him. I’ll do my best not to compare it to …Like Clockwork, which was a little bit too good.
First single and songs leaked don’t give me much hope. Wish they would go back to self titled / rated r days. Too one dimensional nowadays.

Yes that’s probably because of the watermark they tried to remove or because of a technical error when ripping the stream.
Yes – awful leak quality
Brilliant album.
Precisely the kind of evolution you’d expect from the band. It’s less accessible than Clockwork, but heavier. There’s a lot going on. All of it kicks ass.
It has a Bowie-esque feel to it. At times a little glam, at times a little Berlin era. I can even hear a bit of New Wave in the mix there. I hear traces of Lullabies to Paralyse there, plus the influence of working with Iggy can be sensed.
The way I see it, if Songs for the Deaf was Robot Rock, then Villains is Simulant Blues. It’s organic to a degree, but also partially artificial.
And god damn, it bangs like a motherfkker.
The leak doing the rounds is very bad quality & doesn’t do the album justice, first it’s way too quiet & there’s a clearly audible skip in the second track, shoddy work from the leaker, wait for real thing instead, I already planned to buy it anyway.
