It didn't take long for Denver's Khemmis to get back in the studio and start conjuring the follow-up to their universally praised 2016 album Hunted. Where many have fallen, Khemmis took their sophomore album to heights most can only dream of, brewing a mix of Heavy and Doom Metal that filled in a gap not many listeners noticed to have in their lives, while not tying themselves down to genre semantics. Their mix of clean and harsh vocals, heavy bass and drum lines, fuzzy and harmonious riffs, as well as face-melting solos and grandiose songwriting were balanced to perfection, leading to multiple Album of the Year nominations and victories.
On their third attempt, Desolation, the Denver quartet strip away some of the shinier coats of fuzz, opting for a more heads-on approach, allowing each of the band members' individuality to shine through even more than on previous releases. Taking a step away from their more direct influences, Khemmis continue to reinvent themselves on the road to finding a sound that is more and more their own.
Releasing on June 22 2018, Desolation aims to follow in the footsteps of its predecessor and blow everyone out of the water as THE album to beat this year.
