On August 30, 2019, the release day of her sixth studio album "Norman Fucking Rockwell!", Del Rey announced that she had already started working on a new album. She simultaneously gave away the album title, revealing it to be "White Hot Forever", which was changed sometime later.
Without any previous announcement, she took to social media on May 21, 2020 to explain as to why her music is not "glamourizing abuse" and reveal the release date of her upcoming album at the end of her post. On May 25, Del Rey uploaded a series of videos to her Instagram in one of which she announces the title of the album to be "Chemtrails Over the Country Club".
YAWN
*eye roll*
lovely, though this one is going to be Lana reading her own poems, basically, if I reckon what she wrote sometimes ago. Not your average pop album.
you talk about Violet, not COCC.
COCC is a full new album, but not sure it will be out on Sept. 5th, since her last IG update…
is it? Lovely.
I hate when she announces dates and then never does anything on those dates… then when asked, she says “soon..” yawn…
Come on Lana!
Artists really need to stop prematurely announcing projects, it just leads to frustration and disappointment.
Why does her perfection always keep me in agony!!! Release it puuuuuhlease! <3
queen
In the meantime I listen to some of her songs I didn’t know yet. By the way, I know of no other singer/songwriter that has sooooo many unreleased shit out there! And I can’t get enuf of it! <3

The album is 45:27 minutes long. Lush production by Jack Antonoff. The first track “White Dress” sounds heavily influenced by Kate Bush. Vocals are in Lana’s upper register. The rest of the album is standard LDR melancholy romanticism. No rock or hip hop tracks this time. It’s mid tempo singer/songwriter stuff. Lots of acoustic guitar and piano. Pleasant enough but nothing new here.
