"Blue Gum Way" is the upcoming seventh studio album by GUM, the solo project of Australian musician Jay Watson, who's a founding member of the psychedelic rock/psychedelic pop band Pond and a touring member of the psychedelic rock/psychedelic pop band Tame Impala. According to Watson, the album's title references Australia’s blue gum eucalyptus trees, a phrase redolent of melancholy, and a particular time and place in his life.

In my mind, this will undoubtedly be the album of the year alongside Pond’s eleventh album, which is due to come out later this year. Jay Watson (GUM), who’s a founding member of Pond for those unaware, is easily my favorite musician on the planet today, and his GUM albums — where he produces, mixes, and performs the vast majority of the instruments on his own — only seem to get better and better with each new release.
