From out of nowhere, piano driven alternative
rock band Rogues on the Sea from Perth, Western Australia have come out firing, delivering an alluringly dark and brooding self-titled debut album, adventurous enough to capture the wildest imaginations, yet melodically mature enough not
to alienate more familiar musical palates. Short story narratives belted out in a bar room baritone voice over pounding upright piano chords interwoven with strikingly raw guitar riffs and anchored by earthy hypnotic drum beats are captured with the spirit of the seventies while embracing the fidelity of the future with help from experienced engineers Andy Lawson (of Eskimo Joe and Rainy Day Women notoriety) and Brian Lucey (Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys). With guest appearances on the album from world acclaimed lap-steel player Lucky Oceans to renowned Australian trumpeter Jimmy ‘the lips’ Murphy adding colourful soundscapes to the songs, Rogues on the Sea’s debut album makes for a thrilling ride. With Rogues on the Sea’s first song ever released into the wild world of music and already nominated for best song in both alternative and rock categories in the ‘Australian Independent Music Awards’, comes a very exciting time for the band who are currently solidifying their live touring lineup to eagerly support the release of their album and debut their live show.
