The album features several guest singers, Pasi Rantanen (Thunderstone, King Company), Nitte Valo (Burning Point, Seraphiel) & Janne Saksa who performed session vocals to Cardiant’s debut album ‘Midday Moon’.
With hair flowing in the wind & a fist in the air, Cardiant get the power metal party started with the power metal grooviness of Mirrors and Me. A track that has all the elements that make the album such a fun & catchy listen.
Riot Rising, Soul & A Quiet One quickly confirm the excellence that is Mirrors. With Soul in particular being something of an epic thanks to the addition of Pasi Rantanen’s excellent vocals.
The rolling drum beat, harmonic vocals, bass heavy beat & symphonic elements of Blank Star are the highlight of an album that has few low points. Cardiant have a shocking amount of imagination delivering what is a traditional power metal sound but with far more enigmatic elements.
The many guests add so much to the tracks that they work on. Nitte Valo’s addition results in a beautiful piano/vocal driven epic (Shooting Star) that will get hairs standing up on necks. That the final track; Another Time, Another Place has all of them combined means Mirrors finishes off in upbeat power metal style!
It may not be the most popular of metal sub-genres but 2017 has seen some seriously heavyweight releases within power metal. Cardiant’s Mirrors is up there as one of the most impressive.
