The Satanist will land this Autumn via Nuclear Blast. It's one of the most hyped metal albums set to be released in early 2014.
“It took us over two decades to come up with a title that… says it all,” explains our Nergy Nerg. “While our new songs artistically take surprisingly adventurous directions, our message stands steadfast — proud and radical. The Satanist stands for undying yearning for liberation and love for freedom in all aspects of life. Considering all our life experiences that often took dramatic curves, I couldn’t think of more appropriate and fitting statement of who and where we are now.”

Are u kidding? Terrible title. Nergal is trying too hard and it doesn’t do anything to eliminate the cheesy metal + satan stereotype. Oh well, as long as the music slays.

because Satanica was really really cool as a title, right? Or Demigod or Apostasy. It’s just as good a title as any Behemoth album title.
Satan is one of the most misunderstood mythological figures in human history; culturally, socially, etc. he is misinterpreted. If you look up the “Ora Pro Nobis Lucifer” lyric video on metal hammer or another metal new site, there are a few quotes from Nergal explaining why he named the album The Satanist. It’s actually a little more interesting and complex than it presents itself at face value.
The Satanist will be released in early 2014.
Without confirmation, I’m willing to bet the title comes as a direct slap in the face to the All-Polish Committee for Defense Against Sects. Back in July they listed Behemoth as a band that promotes Satanism and Murder… While preforming a gig in Poland, Nergal ripped up a Bible on stage calling it the Book of Lies, and stating that the Catholic Church was the (clears throat) “the most murderous cult on the planet”. So… yea, seems appropriate to me.
