The late-’70s disco singles that Donna Summer made with Giorgio Moroder were all titanic pop hits, and they also helped make the world safe for chilly, stretching-into-infinity electronic production. Back in 1977, Donna Summer raised the bar for disco releases by offering up the sweeping, fairy-tale-themed double album Once Upon A Time. Thirty-six years later to the exact week, Verve will be putting out Love To Love You Donna, a compilation featuring the disco goddess’ music remixed by modern producers. Chromeo & Oliver, Holy Ghost!, and Moroder himself are among the contributors. Also, as it turns out, there’s a big surprise on the album: an unreleased track called “La Dolce Vita,” a collaboration between the singer and her longtime producer Giorgio Moroder.
