Sitting somewhere between classic Lynyrd Skynyrd and Drive-By Truckers you'll find a band called Blackberry Smoke. The band has spent over a decade writing and performing an intelligent, sincere and down-to-earth style of southern rock. It's the sort of music that sticks with you thanks to its catchiness, but appeals to more thoughtful audiences without requiring them to turn off their brains to enjoy it. So far they've produced three albums full of memorable music and poetic, relatable lyrics. Hopefully this next album continues the trend.

"We didn't go in and overthink any of the arrangements of the songs with preproduction. We just talked on the phone and we went in the studio. We did it and eight days later, we were finished."

"Lyrically this time I promised myself I wouldn't write anything that was biblical in nature... and I lied. There are two more; I guess I had two more to shake out of there."

"I think lyrically this album [has] a little more anger in it. And it may just be the time we live in, I dunno. 'Cause I'm happy; I'm not angry. Do I look angry? I'm not."
