London producer Mike Greene used to play keyboards for La Roux, but over the last few years he's built a solid reputation in the dance world with his blurry, aromatic house music as Fort Romeau. After a string of releases on Not Not Fun offshoot 100% Silk and Ghostly, Greene's new LP as Fort Romeau, Insides, will see release via Ghostly on March 31—and we've got the title track for you to listen to, which finds Greene working comfortably in his lane with looped percussive shuffles and vibey synth intrusions.
"'Insides' typifies my approach to this whole album, taking in influences from further afield than before it's as indebted to Kosmische & early electronic music as it is house and disco," Greene told FADER in an email. "Also with this record I really wanted to move away from sampling as the principal methodology and concentrate on composition not only in the traditional sense of melody, harmony and rhythm but also really considering the textural and concrete nature of the sounds."
