In the illimitable words of MLB legend Mark McGwire, “Do you want to know the shocking truth? Or do you want to see me sock a few dingers!?!”
In other words: who the hell cares WHY the “English indie rock band” Tindersticks haven’t put out any original music since 2012’s pretty-killer The Something Rain! All that ACTUALLY matters is that they JUST ANNOUNCED a new one! Like, right this second. And here we are reporting it to you. I mean: YAY! HOORAY!!! That’s fucking JOURNALISM.
Anyway, speaking of journalism: this earth-shattering, balls-jittering new record is called The Waiting Room, and it’s coming at us like a fastball on January 22 via the City Slang record label. We also know for a stone-cold figgaty-fact that each track on the album will be “accompanied by a short film, a visual interpretation by its own director, featuring Christoph Girardet, Pierre Vinour, Claire Denis, Rosie Pedlow and Joe King, Gregorio Graziosi, Richard Dumas and Gabriel Sanna.”
Don’t believe me? Well, I’ll prove it to you: check out the short film for a new track featuring Jehnny Beth of Savages (directed by by Gabriel Sanna) and a duet with Lhasa De Sela right down below. (Damn, I hope it shows up down there. Please god, please god, please god, please god…)
Around the time the first advanced listening promos (to radio & music journalists) are popping up now on the world’s oldest garage-sale website, there are also now versions of these floating around the internet.
Support the band & BUY the album at their official record label lCD/VINYL shop: http://cityslang.frocksteady.com/shop/music.html?artist=1446 or at your record-shop of choice.
